About this course
This forklift training course in Mackay will equip you with the knowledge and skills to safely operate a forklift truck for use within the mining, construction and general construction industries.
A High Risk Forklift licence is ideal for those looking to perform forklift activities across a wide range of industries.

NEW 2-Day Format
This new two-day course format is designed to suit persons with previous industry exposure and/or workplace experience. Students with experience working within construction, mining, sugar, transport, warehousing, maintenance or similar industries often already possess a general understanding of workplace safety, hazards, risk controls and safe work practices, allowing training to be delivered in a more streamlined and efficient format.
The course includes both training and assessment over two full days face-to-face at our training facility. Additional learning support will still be provided where required.
Training Days Focus On:
- Forklift theory training and presentation delivery
- Practical forklift operation
- Load handling and workplace safety application
- Theory and calculation revision
- Formal knowledge and practical assessment
This structured approach ensures maximum hands-on machine time during the practical training days while maintaining full compliance with assessment requirements.
Ideal For:
- Workers that have experience in heavy industry, mining, Ports, warehousing, workshops or Sugar industries
- Persons operating forklifts or similar plant without formal evidence for RPL
- Individuals requiring a compliant pathway to High Risk Work Licence assessment
If you are brand new to heavy industries or have English as a 2nd language, you may want to consider our 3-day Standard forklift course or completing pre-learning material.
If you are required to operate a forklift truck, you will need to hold a current High Risk Work Licence – LF.

Training requirements
Enrolment Requirements
The following are required to commence enrolment in this forklift licence course (QLD):
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of training
- 100 points of identification (WorkSafe QLD ID requirements)
- USI number (Obtain a USI here)
- Ability to read and write in plain English
Requirements on the Day of Training
- 100 points of identification (as per WorkSafe QLD requirements)
- Enclosed shoes/footwear
- Long-sleeved high visibility shirt (high visibility vests available for loan)
- Long pants

- All training materials and stationery
- Access to fridges and crib rooms for personal lunch storage
- Various food outlets located nearby at Mackay Harbour
- Any PPE required

Course outcomes
Certification & Licensing
Upon successful completion and being deemed competent, you will receive a
Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0003 – Licence to Operate a Forklift Truck
issued by Momentum High Risk Training (RTO 46410).
A Candidate Assessment Summary (CAS) will also be issued via email. This document is required when applying for your High Risk Work Licence (HRWL).
WorkSafe QLD
within 60 days of completing your assessment.
Please retain your Candidate Assessment Summary (CAS) as proof of assessment until your HRWL is issued.
