About this course

The combination course conduct lifting operations and operate a gantry crane or overhead crane course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to safely operate a gantry crane or overhead crane and understand basic lifting techniques within the coal mining and metalliferous mining sectors.

This unit covers the conduct of lifting operations in the resources and infrastructure industries. It includes planning for lifting, preparing for lifting and moving loads. Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors.

Through the combination of theory and practical training, this course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills required to safely attend to lifting operations.

Training requirements

The following is required to commence enrolment in the Combination Gantry and Conduct lifting operations course:

The following is required on the day of training and assessment:

  • Steel capped/composite boots
  • Long-sleeved, high visibility shirt (high visibility vests available for loan)
  • Long pants
  • Hard hat (some are available for loan)

Momentum High Risk Training will provide all training materials and stationery.

  • You’re welcome to bring your own lunch as fridges and crib rooms are available for use; or
  • Various lunch options are available close by at the Mackay Harbour

Course outcomes

You will receive a Statement of Attainment in RIIHAN203E Conduct lifting operations & RIIHAN305D Operate a Gantry/Overhead crane once you have been deemed competent, issued by Halo Nation Training (RTO No. 32485 ).
