About this course

This Elevating Work Platform (EWP) training course in Mackay will equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate a boom-type elevating work platform with a boom length of 11 metres or more, for use within the mining, construction, ports, and general construction industries.

A High Risk Work Licence for EWP (WP) is ideal for persons required to operate boom-type EWPs across a wide range of industrial environments.

The following topics are covered within this EWP licence course:

  • Plan work tasks and identify hazards
  • Prepare the EWP and work area for operation
  • Operate a boom-type elevating work platform safely and effectively
  • Shut down, secure equipment, and complete post-operational tasks

This is a BLENDED EWP course.
Participants complete Online pre-course learning + 2 days face-to-face learning, which includes training presentations, course information, videos, and a workbook that must be completed and submitted for marking and approval prior to attendance.

This is followed by 2 days of face-to-face training and assessment, focusing on practical EWP operation, hazard management, theory revision, calculations, and formal assessment.

This course is ideal for persons with experience in heavy industry, mining, ports, or construction environments, including prior exposure to EWPs or similar plant, but who do not hold the formal evidence required for RPL.

If you are required to operate a boom-type elevating work platform over 11 metres, you must hold a current High Risk Work Licence – WP.
